Job Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a valid Indiana teaching license. A Special Education—Intensive Interventions license is preferred; however, strong candidates who hold a Special Education—Mild Interventions license will also be considered. An expanded criminal background check is required.
Job Description:
Cascade High School is seeking a highly qualified and student-centered Special Education Teacher to support students in a self-contained/Life Skills classroom setting. This position will serve high school students and focus on providing individualized instruction, functional curriculum, life skills development, academic support, and transition-related services to help students grow in independence and prepare for post-secondary success.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate should possess outstanding leadership, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred qualifications include an individual who:

Holds the appropriate license to work with students requiring intensive interventions;

Has knowledge or demonstrated experience creating and implementing functional curriculum, interventions, accommodations, and supports;

Has experience supervising and collaborating with paraprofessionals;

Works well as part of a team with support personnel, related service providers, and school staff;

Has experience working with general education teachers to modify curriculum, educational goals, and objectives;

Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and staff;

Has experience with IIEP and case conference procedures;

Understands the importance of transition planning, employability skills, and life skills instruction at the high school level.
